  • Perfect Spread for Toasted Sandwich

    Hi everybody,

In my last post I explained a simple way to get the perfect toasted sandwich from the oven and hinted that there are some quite simple ways to create great-tasting spreads as a basis for the sandwiches. Well, here is one:

    • Cut 1/4 of an onion to small pieces
    • Add a piece of garlic, sliced
    • Add a pickled pepperoncini (or a piece of pepper/paprika)
    • Add other vegetables according to taste (olives, mushrooms, corn,… whatever you think may taste great)
    • Add as much mustard (I use Austrian Estragon, but every mustard should be fine as long as it is not too hot) that you can create a smooth paste

Spread the created paste on the sandwiches as a base, add ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami according to your taste and a slice of cheese (Cheddar is very good, but also Gouda, Emmentaler or every other cheese may suit perfectly).

Well, just try a little bit, whatever I do and try, the toasted sandwiches always taste great!

    Have fun!

  • Perfect Toasted Sandwich from the Oven

    Hi everybody,

Long time, no see… Sorry, a lot of things in my head. Well, recently I dumped my sandwich toaster, a device, appliance, actually, I only used about five to six times a year. Nevertheless, it took up some room in a kitchen cupboard. I had really thought that we needed it, but recently I discovered a very good way to toast sandwiches in a standard oven that is found in every kitchen anyway. Well, here is how it works to make outside crispy and golden, but inside hot and soft toasted sandwiches:

    • Prepare sandwiches as used to (well, if you need ideas for some spread, please read my next post)
    • Pre-heat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius (about 480 degrees Fahrenheit) upper/lower heat
    • Put the sandwiches on the middle rack
    • Bake for about 4 to 5 minutes (check the color and decide, here it depends on the kind of bread you are using)
    • Turn the sandwiches
    • Bake for another 3 minutes

    Well, and your’re done!

    Bon apetite!
